Welcome to the first release of the FP Dev Compendium! (21/07/2026)

Artwork

A lot of artwork was created and commissioned over the years for Freedom Planet, be it for promotional reasons or for merch.

Art by gashi-gashi

The most common cover art for the game, drawn by gashi-gashi. The version of the second art available on Deviantart (shown here, second version) shows a unique Galaxytrail and Freedom Planet logo that never got used.

Art by Katherine Junginger

Cover art for the physical releases of Freedom Planet created by Katherine Junginger! Sourced from this Imgur album they put up (more versions available there!) and Marvelous's japanese Freedom Planet site.

Art by Estela Gonzales/FeliciaVal/mikuhoshi

A bunch of character renders you've likely seen in promo material and all over the place (I mean, they're in the background right now...) were commissioned from Estela Gonzales!

A couple of older drawings from the same artist. The hedgehog Lilac art was originally made as fanart.

Art by Kiwibon

Both of these pieces of art were made by Kiwibon! The first was commissioned for the game and eventually sold on a shirt in 2014, while the second was made for other marketing purposes.
Both are still available as shirts on Galaxytrail's spreadshop.

Art by r-no71

A LOT of sketches created by r-no71! Used as promo material in some places.
The latter few feature beta content, such as The Magister's scrapped bird design. The red Milla sketch is depicting her as an adult, apparently.
I am unsure where the blue Carol sketch comes from exactly, but it is available as a t-shirt officially. A weird colored-in version of the sketch also exists and was used as the profile picture for the official Steam group and was posted to Facebook without a caption.

Art by r-no71

Art made as a commission early on.

Art by r-no71

Pieces of art used for the physical release of the soundtrack from Indiebox. The second image is also a purchasable Steam background.

Art by r-no71 and AlexCee-AUS

Images used as Points Shop backgrounds on Steam. The second image was originally fanart.

Art by Sabrina DiDuro and gashi-gashi

Logos!!
The second image shows some logo variations that never got used.
The third comes from the Kickstarter artbook and has the blue drop shadow slightly blurred compared to the second.
The fourth was made by gashi-gashi, though it ended up unused due to people liking the old logo better.

This is Gashi-Gashi's take on a new logo for the game. The fans were already attached to the other logo by the time he made this, so, I stuck with the other one. Still quite cool! - Kickstarter Artbook

Art by Sabrina DiDuro and Estela Gonzales/FeliciaVal/mikuhoshi

A reference for Lilac, featuring Estela Gonzales's promo art on the side.

Art by Estela Gonzales/FeliciaVal/mikuhoshi

Sketches for Lilac and Carol. Carol's pose was redone due to the artist not liking it.

An early sketch of Carol. The artist disliked it for some reason and started over with a different pose. - Kickstarter Artbook

Art by Sabrina DiDuro

An early sketch of gashi-gashi's first game cover. Features a different perspective.

A rough sketch of what would eventually become our second piece of box art from Gashi-Gashi. As you can see, I originally imagined more of a side view. I'm kinda glad Gashi went full frontal with it, though. - Kickstarter Artbook

Art by Kiwibon

A sketch of the commission done by Kiwibon.
